I can see you struggling with the feelings of failure. No matter how hard you try, you fall short. You feel less important than someone you know. You lose patience with your kids and husband. Your house feels like a disaster. You may feel you have nothing to show for the day. How did the day escape without getting this or that done? Where does all my time go? Why can’t I seem to catch up? Then that little seven letter word haunts you.
failure failure failure failure failure
You may wonder why you just can’t get it right. Why you will never measure up. Can I just whisper truth to you my friend? You are not a failure. You are no where close. It’s a lie, but so easy to believe because we are our own worst critics. Can I even say that maybe if you think you are a failure, you are really a success. You know why? Because you are trying. You are trying hard to be a better person. You are thinking about your mistakes and wanting to do better. You know what else is true? It’s ok to have feelings. Feelings warn us of things. The problem lies when we start believing those feelings as truth. When we wallow in the mire of negativity and start believing we will never be anything but a failure.
You know how I am sure you are not a failure? Do you know why you need to stop telling yourself that? Because you have a heavenly Father who created you with love and care. You were miraculously formed and by telling yourself you are a failure, you are telling the one who formed you and loves you so much, He did a bad job. He messed up. He didn’t know what he was doing.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” Jeremiah 1:5
God knew you even before you were formed. He had a plan for you. He loves you.
“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31
God doesn’t mess up, he doesn’t create failures. Everything he makes isn’t only good, it is very good. It then becomes our choice to believe it or not. It becomes our choice if we want to pull ourself out of the negativity that can become “truth” and follow through with His plan for our life. It becomes our choice if we want to pick ourself up after making a mistake and go on, to work on improving ourselves. God doesn’t make us do anything. He lets us choose. We were created to be very good. It is our choice if we want to believe that and act on it, or if we want to believe the lies satan tells us.
We are a fallen people. We have all sinned. We all make mistakes on a daily basis, but God’s grace pulls us out of the “failure” life. It makes us very good even when we don’t deserve it. It gives us another chance when we lose our patience. It gives us another chance when we miss an opportunity. It gives us the power to extend grace to those around us when they make a mistake.
No my friend you are not a failure, you are very good. Will you join me and make the choice to choose grace? Because the One who formed you, He believes that you are very good.
